Shape the future of flight as an Operations Engineer at a UAV start-up.

At Flylogix, we are using long-range UAVs to provide disruptive services across the offshore energy industry. We already hold the record for the longest commercial UAV flight in the UK, have contracts with multiple operators and are delivering on our ambitious plans to develop our aircraft and service.  We are looking for an exceptional Operations Engineer to join our team.

What you will do at Flylogix

We need an Operations Engineer to set up, champion and embed a world class flight and RPAS (remotely piloted aircraft system) operations system. You will bring processes and consistency to flight testing, operations and applications for permissions with the regulator.

You will be responsible for:

  • Organising and overseeing all flight operations
  • Managing operational processes and strategy
  • Managing the permissions required to enable customer flights
  • Developing and embedding aircraft maintenance systems and processes
  • Managing internal compliance across aircraft maintenance
  • Writing safety cases for flights
  • Project managing flights for customers
  • Embracing design, planning, control and performance improvement
  • Designing and running testing programmes

Your skills and qualifications

In order to apply for this position, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • An engineering degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience running engineering-based operations
  • A software background is an advantage; an excellent candidate would be able to modify autopilot code (C# and /or C++)
  • A deep interest in UAVs and their applications, including UAV autopilots
  • A desire to learn and a can-do attitude
  • Honesty and transparency; demonstrating high levels of integrity
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and flexibility to work as part of a small team
  • Experience of working collaboratively and ability to drive change
  • Experience of aviation or similar safety critical industries would be an advantage
